The bathrooms were terrible.
Due to new management the camp has transformed over the past 6 years. Customer service has improved greatly, the park is always tended to (gravel being put down on roads, trees trimmed, electrical wires fixed), and there are now many fun-filled events on weekends. We highly welcome both newcomers and anyone in the past who may have had a sub par experience to join us for a weekend and discover the place you soon will be calling, your home away from home
It's a country bumpkin place no doubt. Yet, if you're looking for some quiet time on a lake or quiet country roads the this will do. I'd not tent here but if you are self contained i.e. RV and don't mind using your own facilities then this is a good place.
We have been camping here since 2009 I'm a little puzzled about the 2 reviews below mine ??????????? There are lots of seasonal and co-op here and they are all friendly and are very pet friendly I couldn't ask for nicer people. Then u have these 2 reviews below me. Hmmmmm they want rest, relaxation, and seclusion, own private spot, not interested in family camping and on top of all that they want a water view. I have been to many campgrounds with my husband and I have never been to one with all those recommendation. Except maybe a "BIG" State Forest Park with lots of woods. If I was the staff I would have asked them why are you calling a campground you need to be out there with the bears and I would hang up. Those are the kind of people that u just can't satisfy not matter what you do. Lake Williams has 1 site #T5 that is some what private with water front. No other campers around you, Trees circling you site the downfall is you have NO hookups (No water hook up or electricity) (real camping) and u are close to the boat launch and boat docks. There boat launch isn't a very busy place so it really isn't a issue. That is one of the popular sites if you don't mind roughing it. And yes they have a few sites that is away from a active weekend, for most part it is a quiet campground. And about feeling like a criminal at Lake Williams that is so hard to believe. Please don't judge the campground by those reviews go see for yourself judge for yourself.
It's quiet and right on the lake, good place for small kids to catch Sunfish and enjoy the lake, great views of the country and if you cycle then Route 207 is a good route, decent shoulders and challenging hills. Again, if you use your own facilities this is a good place, if you need to use theirs don't come here.
My husband and I called Lake Williams and asked if they had a large, private, camping area. We were looking for rest, relaxation, and seclusion, with a view of the lake. We informed staff that we were not interested in family camping, and wanted our own private spot. They said they could accommodate us and we reserved 2 nights and then paid an extra $10 so we could check in early. Upon checking in and driving to our site, we saw that it was very small, and surrounded by other campers on all sides. It was definitely not secluded, and had no view (except for that of other camp sites). We left and requested a refund. The owner gave us $20 and sent us on our way. I wish they would have been honest about the site.
